Subcommittee member role descriptions

The Xlerate Management Committee is seeking dedicated volunteers to join one of the sub-committees who are critical for Xlerate success.

Creating a vital, comprehensive and engaging educational experience for fundraising professional begins with creating a committee that represents the many diverse backgrounds and viewpoints of a wide variety of fundraising professionals. Fundraisers from any area of fundraising practice or experience level are encouraged to apply. If you think you shouldn’t apply we specifically want you to!!!

Education Committee member

Education Committee member

Reporting to the Chair, Education Committee, the committee members will continue to improve the rigorous process used to select and support our speakers. You will be part of a team who will create the educational programming for Xlerate Day and support other educational year-round initiatives. 

Time Commitment:

  • Occasional in person meetings & calls in 2024/2025
    • Schedule to be set by the chair in consultation with the committee once formed
  • Estimated 40 hours total commitment, beginning April 2024

Your Skill Set:

  • Your personal values are aligned with the values of Xlerate
  • Understanding of the fundraising landscape and hot topics 
  • Collaborative and collegial

Sponsorship Committee member

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Sponsorship Committee, the committee members will implement a whole new approach to sponsorship and put it into action. Participating in the process form prospecting through to making the ask you will have the chance to tone that fundraising muscle.  While primarily focused on obtaining sponsorship for Xlerate Day some additional work will be required for the year round initiatives.

Time Commitment:

  • Occasional in person meetings & calls in 2024/2025
    • Schedule to be set by the chair in consultation with the committee once formed
  • Estimated 20 hours total commitment, beginning April 2024

Your Skill Set:

  • Your personal values are aligned with the values of Xlerate
  • Understanding of the fundraising landscape 
  • Comfortable making the ask, or willingness to learn 
  • Collaborative and collegial

Marketing Committee member

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Marketing Committee, the committee members will help to develop a omnichannel strategy and generate all the content and creative that will be needed to bring it to life. You will work with marketing experts and learn from colleagues across the sector as you elevate the brand of Xlerate and increase the profile of Xlerate Day.  

Time Commitment:

  • Occasional in person meetings & calls in 2024/2025
    • Schedule to be set by the chair in consultation with the committee once formed
  • Estimated 20 hours total commitment, beginning April 2024

Your Skill Set:

  • Your personal values are aligned with the values of Xlerate
  • Marketing experience considered an asset, but not required
  • Ability to draft copy and/or do light creative considered an asset
  • Project management and/or time management skills 
  • Collaborative and collegial

Operations Committee member

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Operations committee, the committee members will participate in the development and execution of a large-scale event (Xlerate Day). Committee members will either be assigned as the liaison to one of the other subcommittees (to ensure infrastructure in those committees) or will work on other projects within the operations portfolio. Some additional volunteer opportunities for supporting the year-round initiatives will be available to those who are interested.

Time Commitment:

  • Occasional in person meetings & calls in 2024/2025
    • Schedule to be set by the chair in consultation with the committee once formed
  • Estimated 40 hours total commitment, beginning April 2024

Your Skill Set:

  • Your personal values are aligned with the values of Xlerate
  • Project management skills are a must have
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively
  • Ability to take initiative without too much direction 

Advisory Board member

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Accountability, the Advisory Board is a group of established professionals in and out of the fundraising industry who will review decisions and documentation produced by other committees to ensure that each element is on values and done with intentionality. They will also ask hard questions of the management committee as they build out the plan for Xlerate Day 2024 in hopes o making the best possible event for all those who attend. 

Please note that the Advisory Board will receive a stipend for their time and preference for people with lived intersectionality, otherwise not represented on the management committee will be given.

Time Commitment:

  • Occasional calls in 2024/2025
    • Schedule to be set by the chair in consultation with the committee once formed
    • Majority, if not all of this work will be done over email to allow for space and freedom of thought
  • Estimated 20 hours total commitment, beginning April 2024

Your Skill Set:

  • Your personal values are aligned with the values of Xlerate
  • Good written communicator or ability to make space for one on one conversations with the Chair
